Diagnostic Session

What Happens at a Diagnostic Session

A diagnostic session is not a questionnaire or an interview. It is a full session: the therapist carefully reads the whole body, finds areas of tension and blocks, connects emotional states and psychological reactions with bodily patterns, and sees how readily these blocks respond.

What the Diagnostic Session Gives You

Often, right in this session, things that seemed unrelated, or that you'd simply stopped noticing because you were so used to them, start fitting together into a clear picture. This information gives therapy a direction and a starting point.

Session Length

A diagnostic session has no fixed length: all the blocks and patterns that are found need to be explored, and there is no way to know in advance how many there will be. It usually runs 75–100 minutes of bodywork plus another 15–30 minutes of conversation to go over the results. The price stays the same either way.

How Many Sessions

There's no way to know the exact number in advance. It depends on your goals, how many patterns need to change and how deeply rooted they are, and many other factors. Here are some guidelines:

Short-Term Work

8–15 sessions

A good fit for a specific concern: to relieve intense tension, or to work through a particular trauma or reaction. For this, short (50-minute) or standard (75-minute) sessions usually work well.

Long-Term Work

six months to a year

In rare cases the work runs longer, with regular sessions or with breaks. This format fits when the traumatic experience built up over a long time, especially in childhood; when there are deep attachment issues; or when bodily patterns have become tightly woven into the personality itself. Deep change takes time. Here too, standard (75-minute) or extended (100-minute) sessions are the norm.

A Schedule That Fits You

The schedule depends on your goals, the results of the diagnostic session, and what you want from therapy.

Frequency: usually 1–3 sessions a week. In certain cases, when more intensive work is needed, daily sessions are possible for a limited period. This is decided case by case.

The effect often builds up between sessions. That is why consistency matters more than speed: steady sessions beat occasional bursts.

Pricing

Diagnostic Session

75–100 min + conversation 4,000 MXN

Short Session

50 minutes 3,000 MXN

Extended Session

100 minutes 5,000 MXN

I keep a few reduced-rate slots: a standard session (75 minutes) for 2,500 MXN, once a week, at a fixed time. They're for people who can't currently afford the full fee. The reduced rate covers a block of up to 10 sessions; after that we revisit the arrangement together.

Book a Diagnostic Session

Rescheduling and cancellation: no later than 48 hours before the session; in that case your slot is simply rescheduled. If you cancel later than that, the session is charged in full: the time was reserved for you, and I can no longer offer it to someone else.
